For those of you who follow me, you already know how much I love graffiti and everything that has to do with the world of hip-hop. Obviously, I swoon when my two loves (graffiti & weddings) come together to form something so picturesque. Like this…
Ahh… Brian Dorsey really knows how to pull at my heart strings.

I was surfing through the vast world of floral and event designers and stumbled upon an interview of Sylvia Weinstock, where she spoke highly of DeJuan Stroud. Naturally, I had to find out more and I was in awe with what is- I’m sure- just a taste of his work. So today, I’d like to share what has inspired me. I haven’t done this feature in quite some time and quite frankly, it’s because my brain has just been saturated with information on design concepts that have been played out overdone. Then I saw this…
I saw this and pictured myself as the bride saying, “Yes, Mr. Stroud, I want trees and cumulus skies, but I don’t want to have it outside. How can we make this happen?” And then… he makes it happen. I. AM. IN. AWE.
I have recently had the pleasure of working with Sana Harris of Wristielove. Her work is nothing short of phenomenal, reflecting an eco-friendly aesthetic in every possible way. I’ll let her talk more about her designs when I post her interview. Art is subjective, but the answers are so much funner when it comes from the artist themselves. So stay tuned for Sana’s interview.
Right now, I’d like to talk about her fantastic business cards. They are just too precious for words! I love how she uses as little paper as possible- again, in keeping with the “green” aesthetic- by cutting her business card down to a third of it’s normal size. Sana’s business card measures an approximate 2.75″ l x 1.1″ h. They’re just being cradled in my business card folder, as I type this. Take a looksie…
As you can see, on the flip-side she showcases a key piece from her product line. This Paper Love addition shows that you can make a huge impression with something tiny. Thank you, Sana- for showing us, yet another eco-friendly piece of beauty.
Kina Grannis is cute as a button, which is sometimes true of her music, but she can also be in direct juxtoposition of it, with some of her more serious covers that she’s done (ie. Blood Blank). This song, though- is so sweet with its playful tune and lyrics. It reminds of the beginning. You know what I mean. It’s the time in your relationship where you can’t wait to be together, you never get sick of each other, chills run down your spine when you look at each other, and fire burns within while butterflies flutter around in your tummy. Yeah, that time. *Sigh*
If I could do it over again, I’d have myself a non-traditional wedding moment and walk down the wedding aisle to this. Give it a try, to all my non-traditional brides.
Lyrics
I think that the stars would have waited for us
hanging on to the night, watching down below
Until we were hand in hand, together waiting for them
And when I open my eyes I saw it too
Stars falling down, when I fell for you
I love you, I love you. I do.
I think that the clouds like the laughter around us
Wanting to feel the warmth they’re softly sinking down
Until they cover the streets just like a dreamland
And right above us they part so that I see through
Stars falling down, and I fall for you.
I love you, I love you. I do.
I first discovered Passion’s music through my sister-in-law, Melody, author of Kiss the Diva. So, recently, I found this song that he recently wrote for the love of his life, which he met in Austria, while he was on tour. *Sigh* I love fairytale-romances-come-true. His lyrics are so smart, clever, and thoughtful. You’ll love him, his music, his outlook on life, and the fact that he’s from San Francisco- well, that’s just the icing on the cake. Yes No, I am so not bias. This would be a great song to serenade your love with (Read: If you can sing) before you pop the question, or at the wedding reception. The choice is yours. The lyrics are priceless.

i picked up the dictionary
trying to define the way
the way you make me feel inside
i looked from A to Z
But still I could not find the words to describe
Instead I found words like Amazing
and Pulchritudinous, Extraordinary
and baby, Marvelous
But still those words don’t bring you justice
I came to conclusions
You’re best left undefined
chorus
You’ll always be a question mark to me
Ain’t no scientific mathematical equation
Could solve your mystery
You’ll always be a step ahead of me
I’ve gone down the road
Found no gold
So I’ll just let you be
You’ll always remain a mystery
So I searched the world wide web
Tryin’ to find the page
The page that would best describe ya
I searched the whole damn thing
But still I could not find the answers
I gave up on searching
I’m goin out my mind
I came to conclusions
Your best left undefined
chorus
You’ll always be a question mark to me
Ain’t no scientific mathematical equation
Could solve your mystery
You’ll always be a step ahead of me
I’ve gone down the road
Found no gold
So I’ll just let you be
You’ll always remain a mystery
Oh Finally,I found you hiding in the dictionary pages of mine.
There you are, my shining star
You’re the definition of undefined.
This song is just so perfect for your wedding first dance. I love it so much that I’ve dubbed it as my theme song. The lyrics can be translated to mean so many other things than that the woman or man of your dreams, having finally come into your life. It could mean that life is complete now, for you have everything you need. For me, it harks to the fact that I have a wonderfully supportive family and equally supportive friends. I’m doing what I love for a living and it’s growing. “My ship has finally come.”
Give it a listen and enjoy the sweet melodies of calm.
with Paul & Aaron! How cute are these little boys? I was asked to create these flat cards in honor of the Fall holidays. I think the tribal pumpkins are just the cutest things ever!

These were printed on 100 lb. Strathmore cardstock. They are so yummy and the colors are so vibrant on ivory cardstock paper. These heavy weight custom-designed cards will be mailed out in high grade ivory envelopes. They are entirely too pretty, I just want to rock them to sleep.

The tribal pumpkins are accented with a little more island flair with the fall colored taro and palm leaves in the background. I love a little Polynesian Halloween, don’t you?

Here’s to wishing you all of you a happy and safe Halloween this weekend! May you be blessed with safe journeys on this ghoulish holiday.
We just sent off these lovelies to Kalena, in Hawaii, yesterday. This was one of our more complex assembly lines because there were so many pieces to it. We came up with a custom design for her that included her dragonfly theme. Her colors are tiffany blue, black, and white. We were so happy to find these pocketfolds in her colors. Opening one of these invitations is like opening a little box from the actual store, complete with ribbon and all.

We’ve added to this luxe invitation suite with a 90 lb. metallic-sheened cardstock. This suite is going first class, all the way, because it’s that heavy!

Kalena comes from an awesome family that loves her very dearly. Her older brother will be giving her hand away in marraige, which is guaranteed to be a tear jerker. We wish you the best, Kalena and Ashley- in love and in life. May this day lead to a lifetime of endless bliss.
I’m planning a wedding for Natasha and Thomas. Their color theme is sage green, lavender, and ivory. It’s been such a joy to help Natasha bring out her own style. Her and Thomas are having family members fly in from all over the United States to help them celebrate their nuptials so we had to get the save-the-dates out ASAP.
I created her save-the-dates on 100 lb. Strathmore paper. Oh pretty pretty paper… how I love thee! Their engagement session was done by Cynthia Robinson of c.Robinson Photography. I love the picture that the couple chose to grace their save-the-dates. It shows a playful side of Natasha that I’m not used to seeing.

I can’t wait to start working on the actual wedding invitations. She has chosen a gorgeous accordion style folder to officially announce her day! Stay tuned!

I’m so sorry for my absence, but I have been deathly ill! The flu took me by surprise last week and I’m still stabbing it to death, as I type this. I do hope that you’ll be patient with me and not leave my wittle side. I couldn’t bear to lose my health and you too.
